This surgery may be done to remove excess skin and fat from the hips and lower back as well as to lift the buttocks and outer thighs.
General anesthesia is the most common approach.
Most patients are more comfortable in the hospital for at least one night possibly two following surgery. Operative time is approximately 2.5-3 hours.
There is expected temporary discomfort, swelling, numbness and bruising.
These include fluid collections (seromas), skin loss, unfavorable or widened or asymmetric scars, numbness, or changes in skin sensation.
Return to work in 4 weeks. More strenuous activity may be limited for 8 weeks.
Permanent.
